The fourth Fulton In Residence tour took place from November 26 - December 3, 2024
in Seoul, South Korea.
FIR students had the opportunity to play for two Korean concertmasters: Wayne Lin of Seoul Philharmonic and Minkyun Kim of Korean National Symphony. They also performed for students at Sangmyung High School and Asia Pacific International School. But perhaps most impactful was their visit to Sinmangwon Orphanage in Yangpyung, which connected to several FIR students' own personal and family histories of adoption.
The Fulton Chamber Players members on tour also kept busy with their own additional activities. Violinist Addison Teng gave two masterclasses at Sejong University, a masterclass and recital at Hansei University, and student chamber ensemble coachings at Sangmyung High School. The FCP trio gave a salon concert at Kyungsung Record on December 1, performing works by Barlowe, Glière, Mozart, and Liszt.
Between masterclasses, teaching, and concerts, FIR students experienced the culture of South Korea. Our Korean collaborators made sure to show FIR members their favorite spots for seafood, barbeque, and other Korean specialties, and they snagged tickets to a sold-out performance by the KBS Symphony Orchestra!
Stay tuned for where Fulton In Residence
will travel next!
